1. IT IS OK TO HAVE A GOOD TIME
Try to enjoy the very short time you have on this earth and do not waste it worrying about everyday trivia.
2. DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS AS THEY ARISE
Solving your problems as they arise is the very best way to avoid stress. If you let your problems build up, their combined weight will definitely get you down.
3. VALUE YOUR FRIENDS
Research shows that people with a supporting family group and friends tend to cope better with the stresses of life.
Value your friendships with other people and learn to treat them the way you would like to be treated. Avoid, if possible, developing enemies because conflict will cost you time, energy and health.
4. AVOID THE MAGNIFICATION OF TRIVIA
Avoid making mountains out of molehills. Somebody leaving the cap off the toothpaste is not going to substantially change your life unless you dwell on it and make it a larger problem than it really is.
5. THINK POSITIVELY
Negative mental states will often cause “psychosomatic” (mind and body) illnesses. Tell your body it is a no good useless piece of meat and that it will become! Very healthy people have self confidence and an optimism in which “psycho” (the mind) tells “soma” (the body) it is great to be alive. Believe that and you will always be healthy and happy and that is what you will become.
6. FREE YOURSELF FROM THE TIME-LOCK
You do not have to retire at 65 or give up sport at 30 or stop riding bicycles just because society believes you are too old.
Studies of people in America and Australia who have lived past their life expectancy have shown that these people work, play and learn until they day they die. They are not locked into fictitious age markers!
7. ACCEPT OTHERS THE WAY THEY ARE
Respect the many differences you see in other people and accept them as they are. If you don’t you will only become frustrated and angry and you will waste much of your energy in conflict.
8. FIND YOUR SOLITUDE
There is often a special glory in being alone which gives you time to think and reflect. Time to relax and remember and dream of things to come. Healthy minds thrive on a moderate amount of solitude. Only excuses lead to loneliness.
9 LAUGH AT YOUR OWN MISTAKES
Develop a good sense of humour that can laugh at your own errors. Remember, you are only human so don’t try to be perfect and don’t punish yourself for the mistakes you make.
