Book Review: Destiny, by Louise Bagshawe.
Destiny

I’ll preface this review by stating I always open Bagshawe’s novels with a reverence reserved for a box of Roses or good champagne, and like both these items; I thoroughly enjoyed consuming her latest.
Destiny doesn’t veer from Bagshawe’s admittedly well trodden path of strong female lead facing adversity and a skewed sense of what is right and wrong who falls spectacularly from social grace and riches beyond my wildest of dreams, only to muster all her strength (and a really hot, strong and forceful, if kind, man) and come out trumps. While this might make it sound like a ‘why bother’ of a novel, she always changes the settings, and Destiny is set in the world of glossy magazines and is just as addictive as previous novels set in the entertainment industry or high fashion retailing.
Bagshawe’s latest, like all her other novels, is a very successful mix of highly improbable, but totally believable and aspirational writing. As with all others, I put the book down determined to pull up some Gucci boots in the latest style and go out and kick some of the proverbial. This is the kind of book that expects little of the reader other than a good sense of fun and a suspended belief in reality, and if you are looking for the ultimate bonk-buster, you’ll definately enjoy it.
If you’re yet to discover Bagshawe and enjoy writers like Tasmina Perry, Jackie Collins or the more recently published Ronnie Cooper, I highly recommend you check her books out. ![]()
