Cooler Weather Skin Care Love

by Tammi Ireland

Cool weather has been peppering our scorching summer days for months and now it seems we’re finally getting some consistency in the grey clouds.  While we all breathe a sigh of relief that we can bring out the tights, it’s time to get serious about one thing – our skin care.

Just like our leather winter boots, our skin dries and cracks with the cooler air (humidity is good for some things!) and so we need to take measures to prevent this from happening.  Once a week, I like to light a few Jo Malone candles and pamper myself, allowing me to calm down and reflect on the week.  Sometimes I even like to sneak in a glass of Cab Sav, too.

Dry body brushing is a great way to improve circulation, bring blood to your heart, energise you and remove those dry, dead skin cells that accumulate after days under the work air-conditioner and facing the winter air.  Using a natural-hair brush (synthetic can be too harsh), work from your feet up to your heart in long strokes.  Gently do the same on your limbs and circulate lightly around the chest.

Franc Essential.jpgOnce you’re done, you’ll need some moisture to finish the job and leave you feeling smooth, calm and fresh.  Franc Essential Body Melt is the ultimate body butter, with a delightful fresh and relaxing smell from Shea and cocoa butters.  Light to apply, but able to be built, Body Melt contains Allantoin, a highly-effective anti-irritant, to heal and soothe your skin.  It’s the finishing touch to a beautiful evening alone.

Now, it’s important to remember facial skin is different from the skin on your body and thus you need to be gentle with it.  Remembering to wash your makeup off every night is imperative to keeping your skin at it’s best throughout winter and keeping blemishes at bay.  However, sleeping with nothing at all on your skin can be detrimental, so a serum is the ultimate hydrator that works while you sleep.  Use a genuine organic rosehip oil, or try one of my favourites – Franc Essential Serum – which also helps prevent lines and aging.

The skin is our biggest organ, so when we say to take time for you, loving your skin is the best way! aa fm tag square 15.jpg
