How to get the most out of the (outdoor) movies

Spectacular Screening Under The Stars

by Tammi Ireland

There is nothing more enjoyable than viewing a latest release film under the stars.

For a delightfully romantic date for two, a relaxing evening for yourself, or a fun night out with the girls, pack a picnic basket full of gourmet goodies and head off to your local outdoor cinema.

Here’s our list for making your outdoor movie experience that much more spectacular.

Tailor your company to the screen

To ensure your movie night is the best it can be, think about who would best love the film you’re planning to see.  A chick flick is often best seen with your girlfriends, while taking your partner along to see a romance under the stars makes for a splendid evening out.  And remember, it’s liberating to see a movie by yourself, so head outdoors and see a classic to wind down after a hard day at work.

View in comfort

Turn your viewing experience luxurious by indulging in the special packages your outdoor cinema has to offer.  The comfortable and stylish Contempo seating provided by Movies by Burswood in their Waterwise La Grassiere means you can watch the latest film while reclining on these modern couches.  This package also includes a gourmet cheese pack from the Blue Cow Cheese Co and your choice of wine or beer all in a special reserved prime seating area.  Now that’s movie viewing in style.

Remember the little things

If planning this wonderful night out, you don’t want anything to lessen the experience.  Warm WA nights brings out the mozzies, so remember to pack insect repellent to keep them at bay.  Be mindful of those around you and use unscented repellent if you can.  Also remember to pack wine spikes so your glass stays upright, a blanket just in case there’s a cool breeze, antibacterial hand gel, and to wear comfy clothes.  All these little extras ensure your night is the best it can be.

Take it all in

As with all life experiences, make the most of the moment and remember to take in everything around you.  Kick off your shoes and feel the grass beneath your feet, lay back and admire the beautiful Perth skyline at night, perhaps take a pair of binoculars to look at the stars before the movie starts, turn off your mobile phone and immerse yourself in the film.

Support those who need it

Feel great about going to the movies by helping a charity at the same time.  All proceeds from the Movies by Burswood outdoor cinema go to charities helping the kids of Perth.  They have previously raised over one million dollars for Youth Focus (for the prevention of youth suicide and depression), Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), the Starlight Children’s Foundation and Ronald McDonald House.  With over 300 volunteers plus sponsors, Movies by Burswood turns your night out into a wonderful chance to improve the quality of life of children in a health or physical ability crisis.
