Your best friend is blonde, outgoing and the world’s biggest attention seeker, and the man of your dreams is marrying her.
Then you wake up next to him only months before the wedding.
Rachel is in that exact predicament.
The spark between Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin from He’s Just Not That Into You) and Dex was ignited on their first day at law school. He’s everything she’s ever wanted... a smart, funny, charming, sensitive guy. But when Rachel’s best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) crashes their date, the unlikely couple hit it off and Rachel steps aside to let Darcy steal the limelight yet again.

Six years later the two are engaged to be married, and Rachel is living in a world where she pretends everything is ok, thinking it’s worth it to keep everyone around her happy in the process. But will helping write the vows for the man she’s in love with prove to be just too much?

Based on the book by Emily Giffin, Something Borrowed is a hilarious romantic comedy about love, lies, and all that comes between. There are several twists and turns that will keep you guessing as to which way the story will eventually unfold. You know you want Rachel to be happy, but is it too late to change things now that the wedding’s almost here? And is it worth it if it’s going to hurt the people she loves most?
Grab the girls together and go see this fun-loving romantic comedy of the struggle between pleasing the people you love and standing up for what you want. Witty dialogue and a great cast keep the morally challenging issues light and humorous, with ‘the right thing to do’ always under dispute. Kate and Ginnifer nail their roles, and John Krasinski as Ethan is absolutely brilliant in telling it how it is and making things hilariously awkward.
The ending may not please everybody, but isn’t that the moral of the story after all? I personally loved it. There’s just enough closure to end the film, but also enough to keep the door open for the sequel Something Blue. Something Borrowed will leave you with the feeling that sometimes you’ve just got to take chances in life, even if it doesn’t end the way you thought it would, at least you can say you tried. And you never know, it could just pay off. ![]()
