World's Greatest Shave - Veronica's Haircut for Charity

The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave is on again.

People from all over are shaving their heads and dying their hair to help raise funds for the Foundation including staff from Perth engineering company LogiCamms who have raised nearly $14,000 by overlooking their pride and participating in the World’s Greatest Shave initiative for the Leukaemia Foundation.  And they’re all women.

It’s not every day a woman shaves her head completely, but in the name of charity Veronica McConachy took the plunge one evening late last year, while Cindy O’Connor, Belinda Vecchio and Alysha Barber had their hair dyed wild colours in front of an audience of around 40 people at Black Tom’s in West Perth.

Hairdresser Lisa New volunteered to undertake the 'styling'.

Weeks of planning went into the event and in support of dedication to their cause, employer LogiCamms offered to match the donations raised.

LogiCamms has over 380 staff nationally and partakes in several community initiatives throughout the year in support of causes such as the Cancer Council, Activ and Movember.

The 2011 World’s Greatest Shave event is officially started yesterday, through to Saturday.

This year the Leukaemia Foundation is hoping to raise $1.7 million in Western Australia alone to help all those living with blood cancer and related blood disorders.
