2 Kilos & 7 Centimetres

I'm a bit of a happy chappy today as I've just had a weigh and a measure and I've lost 2 kilos and 7 centimetres in two and half weeks!

A little while ago Flourish received an invitation to experience 10 Bailine sessions and find out more about what it is and what it does.

With summer and bikinis (I've always been a bikini girl rather than a one piece) just around the corner, and the baby weight of two years ago not shifting quite as much and as quickly as wanted (or needed!), I jumped at the opportunity.

Not really knowing what to expect, I made my appointment with the WA manager, Kaz, and rolled up to the Bailine premises on the very pretty Ardross Street in Applecross for my first session two and a half weeks ago.

The concept of Bailine is built on three principles: modification of diet (the whole eat less and eat better philosophy), mental conditioning (change the way you think about food & exercise) and increase in activity. These principles combined with the Bailine workout (more of that in a minute) are the keys to reaching weightloss and body shaping goals.

The actual Bailine machine sits on the wall and pads moistened with water are placed strategically over your body in areas that you want firmed up.  The pads are held in place by wide velcroed straps.

It's a bit of a luxury to find myself lying down during the day, so after taking my initial measurements (skin fold, weight, measurements), while Kaz was prepping me with the pads I felt myself getting into relaxation mode (and chatting away with Kaz finding out a bit of the history of Bailine).

Once all hooked up, Kaz turned on the machine via the link up to her computer and so it began.  The electric charge running the pads cause the underlying muscles to contract at different levels and different times depending on which computer program has been selected by the Bailine therapist.  In this case it was the introductory program which is the precurser to the more intense workouts.

It is quite difficult to describe but it's like the muscles get grasped through vibration.  Imagine doing a sit up without your body changing position - the pad over the muscles used to do a sit up will contract numerous times over the session.  The muscles of your body are like an orchestra that is being controlled by the machine - quite an odd sensation, but you do feel it working deep and becomes quite mesmerising after a while.

Each program lasts around 35 minutes but can be shortened or lengthened if time permits.  It's quite an addictive sensation after you get over the initial 30 seconds or so each session.  During the session you listen to a relaxing CD through headphones which covers different eating, exercise and attitude topics to encourage a shift in the way you approach your diet and living.

I was planning on waiting until the 10 sessions were up before posting in depth about my Bailine experience however Kaz has a special offer that I thought would be good to share with you in the lead up to Christmas.

The offer is a half price deal on 10 sessions. That is $325, normally $650. Offer valid to December 24th (though sessions can be used after that).

So, if your butt, arms, tummy or elsewhere needs some toning, give Kaz a call on 9315 4128 or email bailineapplecross@bigpond.com

Visit www.bailine.com for further information about the system, and check back here soon to find out my next measurements and more about my experience.

Does it work for the over 50s? I like the thought of quiet muscle tone combined with a walk each day....

Of course Louise! A muscle is a muscle :) There's been a 'nanna' (as she calls herself) in the room next to me having a treatment some of the times I've been.

Hi Louise, alot of my clients are in their 40's, 50's and 60's. They love it, it's their time, they get an all over body workout and at the same time relax.
