Getting old...

A girlfriend and I were having a quiet catch up over champers a couple of months ago, and she was talking about wanting to have a little 'bit of work' done on her face to 'pull everything up, just a little'.  I told her she so didn't need anything changed  but then she showed me what she meant, and I could really see the difference.

Since then, and I'm blaming her for this, I'm sure I can see the effects that gravity is starting to have on my face!!  I'm not sure if it's a case like coming across a new word and then you keep seeing it or hearing it or buying a new car and all of a sudden they're everywhere, but my friend's little demonstration of moving the skin on her face less than a centimetre has stuck with me.

I'm all for ageing gracefully and I'm not going to do anything drastic except be more diligent with my skin care routine, be a littler gentler applying products (working in upward circles) and get more sleep!

Has anyone else experienced a specific moment when you saw that you were actually ageing?  Or is it just me!  Would you have a little 'bit of work' done?  Have you?  What constitutes 'little'?

Nothing to do with ageing, but a lovely article about Friendship can be found here.

Although you may be physically seeing the ageing process, Jane, it's your wonderful personality that keeps you young! Beauty is on the inside (makes my industry a teeny bit obsolete, but it's true).

Hmm...Slippery slope to looking like a western suburbs fifty-something ponytail clone! Personally I think products are overated and sleep is massively underated, as is water.
It wasn't me - or you would have mentioned vodka :)

Ha Ha. No it wasn't you, and it's not someone who hops online alot either!
I agree totally re: the sleep. Will be posting an archived article about the benefits of soon. As for me...must not be tempted by those excellent SBS late night movies.

Only noticed the other day a fine lines around eyes. I'm super diligent with face moisturiser and staying out the sun I don't know how else to defy the ageing process other than eating well. I agree with Serena, sleep is definitely underated, I know when I've slept well I look years younger the saying get your beauty sleep couldn't be truer.

Don't agree with Botox, there's a national army of frozen faces, hate to say it, but Botox dosen't make you look younger!

Agree with Kara on the Botox - I would go as far as to say it actually ages you.
