For many families in Western Australia who have a sick child, the journey to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children is not always an easy one. With WA being such a large state, Princess Margaret Hospital needs to care for children from Kunanurra to Esperance, and when a child needs prolonged treatment, coming down to Perth every week is not an option.
The Perth Ronald McDonald House, which was built in 1990 has been a home away from home and a haven for many families who have a child fighting a life threatening illness. Families such as the Mapstones who without the generous support and comfort of the Ronald McDonald House could not of survived the terrifying time of helping their son, Elijah beat cancer.
