Event: Breast Cancer Care WA's Long Table Lunch
The 8th annual Celebration of Women Long Table Lunch, major fundraiser for Breast Cancer Care WA will be held on Sunday 17 April at the Claremont Showgrounds.
This year's event is shaping up to be very exciting with prominent chefs and caterers involved including Heyder & Shears, Innovations Catering, Stephen Clarke (Clarkes of North Beach) Graham Arthur, above, (representing il lido of Cottesloe and Duende in Leederville) and Rochelle Adonis with her beautiful desserts, preparing a four course lunch for 650 guests.
The Long Table Lunch was started in 2004 by Faith Nichols of Comestibles, to commemorate the life of Pippin Bath, a prominent member of the Perth catering industry who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 37. Each year since, The LTL has honoured another brave woman who has lost her life to breast cancer.
Now going into the eighth year for this event, more than 4,500 people have attended, and over $400,000 has been raised to enable Breast Cancer Care WA to provide personalised support and care for those affected by breast cancer.
To keep with Faith’s original vision and the spirit of the event, each year the BCCWA continues to honour another brave woman who has lost her life to breast cancer. After four big years of heading the enormous catering task Faith Nichols passed the baton forward to include the wider catering community.
The Long Table Lunch has had a history of involving some of the states most renowned chefs and caterers including Kate Lamont (Lamonts), Gill Holly (Brush Fork & Pencil), Jane Burchett (Attitude on Food), The Gala Restaurant and All Seasons Catering. Other major contributors include Heyder & Shears, Robert Duvall Foods, Pickled Pink, Finger Food Catering, Tasty Tarts, Good Mood Food and Red Pepper Catering.
The delicious food and unique style of the Long Table Lunch is only part of the essence of the event. What makes the day truly unique is that every item used is generously donated or heavily discounted and the wait service is delivered by an enthusiastic team of approximately 150 volunteers. The team of dedicated volunteers include breast cancer survivors, relatives, enthusiastic students, caring individuals and even current patients.
Last year this fantastic event raised over $75,000 and this year the goal is $100,000 which is only possible thanks to the fantasic generous support from the sponsors.
This day is an event to celebrate life and the courage of so many women who have travelled through a breast cancer journey whilst raising funds to help those on a journey now and in the future. You can come and be a part of this amazing event and you too can make a difference.
Tickets to the lunch are now on sale from Breast Cancer Care WA for $140. There are also a limited number of corporate tables available.
