Things to Do: Food Revolution Day - Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food Australia & The Good Guys stores in WA
Jamie Oliver and The Good Guys gear up for a Good Food Revolution
On Saturday, May 19, The Good Guys stores in WA will join Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia to encourage and inspire communities throughout Australia to ‘Stand Up For Real Food’, by taking part in the first ever Jamie Oliver inspired Food Revolution Day.
Food Revolution Day is a global initiative which encourages communities to come together and prepare and cook healthy nutritious food in the kitchen every day, to help keep cooking skills alive.
Gino Cafini, Proprietor of The Good Guys Rockingham, believes that Food Revolution Day is a good opportunity to get Jamie’s good food message out into the community, so that individuals, friends, schools and businesses can spread the word, share recipes and stand together for real food.
“Food Revolution Day is a time where together we can help raise awareness and funds for good food initiatives such as Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, so that they can continue to provide food education and cooking tips for healthy eating,” said Gino.
On Saturday 19th May, throughout WA, The Good Guys will be celebrating Food Revolution Day. There will be cooking demonstrations in store, BBQs for customers and great specials on cooking appliances, stoves, small appliances and raffles for great prizes.
The team at The Good Guys is also supporting the initiative by donating $5 from every ‘Jamie’s Great Britain’ cookbook sold in-store and online to Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, which will contribute to the $1 million target that Food Revolution Day aims to raise from events globally.
After recently launching the first Australian Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen, Australia remains a primary focus for Jamie as he continues the campaign for healthy eating and food education. His work here isn’t slowing down, as he encourages the whole nation to get behind the first Food Revolution Day.
“Food Revolution Day…it’s about empowering people through education…inspiring people to be more street-wise about food, where it comes from and how it affects their bodies. If you know how to cook you can save yourself money, feel better and live longer, and the chances are, your kids will follow suit,” says Jamie.
